Collingwood Childrens Farm

Last Thursday the 23rd of August we were lucky enough to venture out to Collingwood Children's Farm!

We used our meet and greet animal visit to explore our big inquiry question 'how do humans relate to animals?'

While connecting with the animals we met at the farm, we were able to identify a range of physical, emotional and social similarities and differences between us and them.

"Goats have pupils that are like lines, we have pupils that are round"

"Horses have four legs but we have two."

"Cows have baby calves and we have human babies."

"Sheep have hair all over their face and around their eyes, we don't. Sometimes we have beards though"

"Sheep have wool to keep them warm and we have jumpers and jackets to keep us warm."

"Pigs and humans both get sunburnt. Pigs use mud for sunscreen though and we use normal sunscreen."

"Horses wear horse shoes and we wear shoes."

"Guinea pigs need company to feel happy and so do we."

"Horse have big bones that make them tall, our bones aren't that big."

"Chickens live in families like we do."

"When goats get frustrated they push you with their heads and walk off, when we get frustrated we can say stop and walk off."

"Peacocks can feel scared and so can we."

"When peacocks are scared they try to escape and sometimes humans do too."

"Goats gets really hungry and eat quickly and so do we."

"Cats like to play and kids like to play."

"We can talk to each other when we want something but baby chickens peck each other to get the other chickens to move."

Thank you so much to all our incredible volunteers, we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did!
