Term 4 is a big term for Triciclo Preps as
we begin to prepare ourselves for our move into the grade123 classrooms. Last
week we started our transition program with a visit to 123 Il Nido, Bicicletta
and Alveare where we were given a tour of the learning spaces, enjoyed some team-building activities and shared a community circle.
The transition program at BEPS works to ensure that every child feels secure, confident and connected to the people, places and routines. BEPS learning communities work hard to share a ‘whole-school’ culture and language so that the journey through the school is a more seamless and less stressful experience.
Successful transitions rely on all students, families and teachers
developing positive, supportive relationships. The 123s were extremely welcoming and supportive of all the Preps and this was reflected in our confidence in speaking and listening and interacting with the new teachers and students.
As soon-to-be-grade-1s, we are also looking forward to being mentors to the
incoming prep students and have begun planning how to support them in their own
transition to school.
Through frequent informal discussions, orientation to the different
school environments and team-building exercises the preps are beginning their
journey to their new place within the wider school community. It's very exciting!
